Cold Weather Workouts - Do You Brave the Outdoors This Time of Year?

Here at That's Fit, we're constantly telling you what we think about things, but sometimes it's nice to know what you think. So from time to time, we'll ask you a question. Don't be afraid to speak up -- we love feedback.

When it's cold outside, there are plenty of ways to get fit -- You can go ice skating, skiing, even shoveling your snow burns a ton of calories and provides enough physical exertion to exhaust you for days -- depending on how much sidewalk space you have at your house, of course.

But not everyone likes the cold weather. Do you?

During winter, do you get fit outdoors or indoors?

You Told Us ... What You Love Most About Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving. Isn't it a great day? I hope yours was fantastic. Last week, prior to the big day, I asked you what you loved most about Turkey Day. Here's what you had to say:

  • 31 percent of you -- the majority -- just love Thanksgiving, and everything about it. I'm with you guys on this one.
  • 17 percent of you are crazy about the food.
  • 17 percent love the time with friends and family the most.
  • 14 percent of you love having the day off work.
  • 11 percent of you don't like anything about Thanksgiving. Bah Humbug!

Thanks for sharing your feelings towards Thanksgiving -- it's good to know I'm not alone in my love for this day. Be sure to vote in other Your Turn polls and stay tuned for more results!

Did You Overdo it This Thanksgiving?

No holiday stands for overindulgence and wanton gluttony quite like Thanksgiving does. You might have planned to keep your portions reasonable, or you might have accepted in advance that you'd have to do an extra hour of fitness the next day to compensate for the calorie fest. But plans are one thing -- executing them is another. So I'm wondering ...

Did you overdo it this thanksgiving?

You Told Us ... Your Plastic Surgery Wish List

Last week, 26% of you said you would get plastic surgery in a heartbeat. So what's stopping you? For some, taking the time off from life to have invasive surgery is out of the question. For others, maybe it's a fear of needles or hospitals. But for most of you, price is the main deterrent. And even if you could scrape together the money, there may be more important ways to spend thousands of dollars than on vanity.

Still, I want to know what plastic surgery procedure you'd get if price wasn't an issue. Here's what you had to say:

  • 27% of you would opt to get lipo.
  • 15% want a tummy tuck.
  • 17% of you would get work on your breasts -- either enhanced or reduced.
  • 6% of you would get a facelift.

But, the majority of you -- 28% -- wouldn't get any surgery at all, even if it was free. Good for you -- it makes me happy to see that so many accept their bodies just the way they are. Thanks for sharing.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there. It's one of my favourite holidays -- not just because of the delicious food (which I love), and not just because I get to spend time with cherished friends and family (which I love even more), but because it's a day when I really stop to think about what I'm thankful for. And I have a lot to be thankful for. I suspect you do to.

So what about you? What do you love about Thanksgiving?

You Told Us ... If You'd Get Plastic Surgery

We live in an age where everything is instant or close to it. You can even change your looks in an instant with plastic surgery. Want to get rid of that flab, or tighten up your face, or give your chest a lift? No problem ... surgery can help. Even you can do it. But the question is: Would you?

That's what I asked you last week, and it looks like the results are split down the middle:

  • 26 percent said you would get plastic surgery in a heartbeat, while,
  • 26 percent said there's no way you would get it done.
  • 5 percent of you said maybe.
  • 17 percent have already had it ... and would get it again, while
  • 3 percent of you said you've had it done, but wouldn't do it again.

Very interesting -- thanks for sharing!

We Canadians had our Thanksgiving dinner more than a month ago, so it's with much jealousy that I remind you that Thanksgiving is coming up, you lucky jerks. If you haven't guessed, I am crazy about turkey, stuffing and all the dishes in between.

Come on, indulge me. Tell me what part of Thanksgiving dinner you're looking most forward to.

You Told Us ... What Would Make You Feel Better About Your Body

The Hills star Heidi Montag says getting bigger boobs made her feel better about her herself. So we asked you in a recent poll what it would take for you to feel better about your body. Here's what you said, in order of questions asked.

  • 25.7 percent of you report that losing weight would help.
  • 6.6 percent agree with Heidi -- the boobs have it.
  • 5.9 percent would love clearer skin.
  • 30.1 percent wish for a more fit and toned body.
  • 14.7 percent would change everything.
  • 4.4 percent would change nothing.

These stats are pretty fitting for That's Fit readers. The two categories earning the highest percentages -- losing weight and looking toned -- are the stuff this blog is made of, after all. So, keep reading, everyone, as we continue to arm you with healthy options for reaching your goals.

If Price Wasn't an Issue, What Plastic Surgery Procedure Would You Get?

Earlier this week, I asked you if you'd get plastic surgery if you had the chance. I suspect many of you will say yes, so I want to know more. What kind of procedure would you want to get? Considering that more than half of you don't like your midsection, I think I can predict your answer but still, I want to know ...

If you could get one plastic surgery procedure for free, what would it be?

You Told Us ... How Veteran's Day Inspires You

Veteran's Day has come and gone, but we hope you honor your servicemen and women every day -- and we hope you are continually inspired by all they do to allow us the freedom we all enjoy. We know some of you feel the inspiration but sadly, most respondents in our recent Veteran's Day poll report that they do not. Check these out, the answers to our question: Does Veteran's Day Inspire You?

  • 27.3 percent of you are absolutely inspired. Good for you.
  • 63.6 percent of you are not really inspired, Ah, come on.
  • 9.1 percent of you aren't yet sure.

For those of you who are not really inspired or aren't yet sure if you're inspired -- I say you lace up those walking shoes, take a long walk, and think again. Or do like Martha would do and hop on the treadmill. It makes her thankful there are folks out there ensuring she can feel alive, powerful, and free. See if it does the same for you.

Would You Consider Plastic Surgery?

A little while ago, when I asked if you would change something about your body if given the chance, the answer was a resounding YES. Not no, or even maybe -- just yes. But how does one go about changing his or her body? A fairy godmother is one option. Good, old-fashioned hard work (read: diet and exercise) is another, more viable one, but even that involves a lot of effort for a very slow pay off. The other option, of course, is surgery. It's risky, painful and involves a difficult recovery, but it's fast and usually effective.

So this time around, I'm asking ...

Would you consider plastic surgery?

You Told Us ... If You Would Change Your Body

Last week, I asked you the question if you could change something about your body, would you? It's a question that requires some careful thinking, if you ask me. Here's what you had to say:

  • 72% of you would change your body in a heartbeat.
  • 17% might consider it -- depending on the situation, of course.
  • 9% of you admit your body isn't perfect, but it makes you who you are and you love it anyway.

Personally, I'm in the last category -- I'm not perfect, but I like my body. The only kind of change I'd take is the kind that takes hard work through diet and exercise. Reader Kevin agrees; He says, "[I've already changed my body] through diet and exercise. No, I wouldn't take and "instant" change. But I think if your reading this blog, your already changing you're eating habits and activity levels to make an effect on what you don't like."

Over at Fit Celeb, they're talking about Hills star Heidi Montag. Apparently, Ms. Montag feels a lot more confident about her figure since having a boob job a few years ago. If that's what she needed to feel good about herself, then good for her, I guess. What about you?

Daylight Savings - does it affect your healthy habits?

The switch from daylight savings time back to standard time in the Fall means an extra hour of sleep for us -- and an extra hour of light in the morning. The drawback? It gets dark much earlier in the evenings. I tend to work out in the mornings, so the extra hour of sunlight usually motivates me to get my butt to the gym but for those of you who head to the gym in the early evening, the darkness might be another reason to skip the workout.

So last week, I asked you if the time change had an effect on your healthy habits. Here's what you said:

  • 43% of you said no, it didn't have any effect on your fitness routine.
  • 31% of you said yes, it helped motivate you to work out.
  • 17% of you said you didn't notice a difference ... yet.

It's Veterans Day in the US, Remebrance Day in Canada and a day synonomous with peace the world over. Having been raised in a military family, this day is one of the most important to me. It's a day when I reflect on the cost of freedom and how fortunate I am. It's also a day that reminds me that I can't take anything for granted.

And I don't know about you, but when I'm reminded of how lucky I am, it motivates me to exercise. When I'm running, I feel alive, powerful and free. So after observing a moment of silence at 11 AM, you know where you'll find me: On the treadmill.

What about you?

Does Veterans Day motivate you to live the best life you can?
